SPS Health and Wellbeing support and resources are available to all employees and include:

HELP Employee Assistance Programme

SPS’s Employee Assistance Providers are HELP EAP. They can be contacted by phone, where a team of trained practitioners is available to offer free, confidential and independent information, support and counselling 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 

Services include:

  • Life management and health information
  • Online therapy
  • Interactive healthy lifestyles website
  • Telephone support
  • Face-to-face counselling
  • Health (fitness, weight, illness)
  • Stress (work or personal)
  • Financial (money management, debt)
  • Legal (consumer, divorce law)
  • Relationships (family, work, partners, friends)
  • Substance abuse (alcohol, drugs, smoking)
  • Family matters (childcare, care of the elderly, educational)
  • Work (management, career matters, maternity).

Eye care

Employees who are Display Screen Equipment (DSE) users are entitled to receive free eye care and eyesight tests. If the eyesight test indicates that prescription glasses are necessary for DSE work, or when normal corrective glasses cannot be used, employees will be provided with prescription classes from a specific range of styles without charge.

The Walking Challenge

Employees who participate in this annual challenge raise money which will go to help civil servants and their families when they have reached a difficult point in their life.

Employee Fitness Facilities

Employees can enjoy free access to the gyms at local establishments.
