The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 provides a right of access to all types of recorded information held by public authorities.

The Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004 (EIRs) give you a similar right to ask us for environmental information. You do not have to mention this legislation in your request.

We would encourage you to please consult our Publication Scheme and published responses before submitting a request as the information you seek may already be available.

FOI law in Scotland is promoted and enforced by the Scottish Information Commissioner (OSIC):

The Commissioner's remit is limited to FOI matters and to Scottish public authorities, as defined by Section 3 of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.
