This paper describes the long-term vision for all young people who are in custody in Scotland. It explains how the Scottish Prison Service (SPS), with partners, is working to achieve the following aim: To use the time a young person spends in custody to enable them to prepare for a positive future.

The role of the Risk Monitoring and Audit Committee (RMAC) is to act as an independent scrutiny body, without executive powers, advising the Agency Accountable Officer (Chief Executive) and to support the Advisory Board in their responsibilities for issues of risk, control and governance and associated assurance through a process of constructive challenge.

To examine the revised policy and guidance for Risk Management Teams within the SPS in order to identify improvements and ensure consistency in application and make any recommendations necessary.

The Public Records (Scotland) Act 2011 (the Act) received Royal Assent on 20 April 2011. It is the first new public records legislation in Scotland since 1937 and came into force on 1 January 2013.
