The Scottish Parliament approved the Emergency Early Release of individuals in our care this week.
This has followed a rapid rise in the prison population, which was already very high and complex.
The Scottish Prison Service is now progressing plans for the first eligible individuals to be released on 26 and 27 June.
There will be four tranches in all, and they will take place on the Wednesday and Thursday of successive weeks.
We will support staff, those in our care, their families, our partners, and members of the public throughout the process.
